OC Trackers have been provided to all of the competitors in this years Original Singlehanded Trans-Atlantic Race so that their progress can be followed by people all over the world. This is the first year that OC Trackers have been incorporated into the OSTAR event, a decision made after their success in the UK Mini Fastnet event in 2008.

As the title suggests the event follows the route of the first ever Transatlantic race back in 1956 that started in Plymouth, UK and finished in New York City, USA. The race is strictly amateur but has given birth to many top offshore sailors who have completed the race in the past. The 2009 edition is run by the Royal Western Yacht Club in Plymouth, where the competitors left on the 25th May to begin their 2800 nautical mile journey. It took just 17 days for the first boat to cross the finish line in Newport, Rhode Island, USA but not without retirements early on in the race.

OC Technology will continue their involvement with the RWYC by providing trackers for the fleet of the UK Mini Fastnet 6.50 race that takes place in Plymouth on July 5th.
